Is the Bible a collection of 'Myths?'

The Bible is the world's most renown book.  It holds the record for being the top best selling book ever in human history and can be found nearly anywhere across the globe.  The Bible is also said to have been the first book ever printed by modern press technology.

Many atheists have questioned its authenticity and claim it to be nothing but a collection of myths - many which they claim were borrowed from other mythologies.

  • What do you think about the Bible?
  • Is it truly the Word of God or just a hoax?
  • Does it convey history or is it a collection of myth and/or a retelling of previous myths.

  1. The bible is a vile document that promotes slavery, genocide, rape and human sacrifice. People who dogmatically hold the word of the bible as truth, do so in conflict with science. The same science that allows us to cure disease, fly to space and have this conversation. The bible is not the word of a god.the bible is the word of men. Depicting mythologies and stories of the time in which it was written, later edited to serve political rather than religious purposes.

    1. The Bible is a collection of books written during different times. It reflects the culture, laws, values and understanding of the periods from which it derived from. However, this does not take away from it being the Word of God. The Bible does not conflict with science because science did not even exist when it was being written.

  3. Whatever makes you think the bible is the "word of god"?

    1. There are several reasons. It has survived the test of time. Each book was written at different periods, yet the books are all linked. How can one man born 200-500 years later know what a man wrote before him without ever seeing his work? God obviously inspired these writers.

  4. Also your assertion that "science didn't exist" when the bible was written so they can't be in conflict is laughably ridiculous.

    1. How so? Many scientists say the same thing, so it is not ridiculous. Science as we know it today did not exist so the authors of the Bible had no reason to align their prose to science.
